Multiple individuals were shot on Saturday afternoon near Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. The local police confirmed the incident, indicating that the suspect remains at large. Following the shooting, the university issued an alert advising students to lock their doors, silence their phones, and remain hidden until further notice.

The university reported that it did not have current information on the victims’ conditions. However, a senior law enforcement source indicated to CBS News that preliminary reports suggested at least two individuals were dead and around 20 others injured. Some victims may not have suffered gunshot wounds.
