Nebraska QB Dylan Raiola to Enter Transfer Portal: Reports

Reports indicate that Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola is set to enter the transfer portal when it opens in January. This decision comes after Raiola completed two seasons as the starting quarterback for the Huskers.

Dylan Raiola’s Career at Nebraska

During his time at Nebraska, Raiola started 22 games. He recorded impressive statistics, throwing for 2,000 yards in 2025 with a completion rate of 72.4%. His performance included 18 touchdowns and six interceptions, showcasing his strong capabilities as a quarterback.

  • 2024 Season Statistics: Set freshman records with 2,819 passing yards and a completion rate of 67.1%.
  • Sophomore Year: Achieved 2,000 passing yards with an exceptional 72.4% completion rate.

Raiola’s presence significantly elevated Nebraska’s profile in college football. He was a five-star recruit, originally committed to Georgia, but switched allegiance to Nebraska in December 2023. His recruitment was pivotal in attracting talented receivers like Dane Key and Nyziah Hunter to the program.

Injury and Departure

Unfortunately, Raiola suffered a broken right fibula during a game against USC last November. This injury hampered Nebraska’s offensive performance and marked a challenging end to his season. Before the injury, Nebraska was leading USC 14-6.

His departure also coincides with the recent firings within the coaching staff at Nebraska. Coach Matt Rhule dismissed Raiola’s uncle, Donovan Raiola, as the offensive line coach in early December 2023. This decision further followed his brother Dayton’s decommitment from the Nebraska recruiting class.

Raiola’s Promising Future

Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 230 pounds, Raiola boasts impressive physical attributes. Known for his strong arm, he is expected to be one of the most sought-after quarterbacks in the transfer portal. He has established notable connections with NFL stars, including Patrick Mahomes, whom he trained alongside.

Raiola first captured attention in 2021 at a Nebraska camp where he emerged as a top prospect. His football journey saw him earn offers from prestigious programs, including Texas, USC, and Alabama. Ultimately, his commitment to Nebraska is regarded as one of the program’s most notable accomplishments in recent years.

Upcoming Challenges

As Raiola prepares for his transition out of Nebraska, the team is set to compete in the upcoming Las Vegas Bowl against Utah on December 31. The Huskers will look to rally, but the absence of their leading quarterback raises significant challenges for their performance.
