British Triathlete Kate Waugh Clinches World Title in Qatar T100 Final

British triathlete Kate Waugh has secured the World Title at the T100 Final held in Qatar. She completed the race in an impressive time of 3 hours, 31 minutes, and 30 seconds. This victory came just 20 seconds ahead of her fellow Briton, Georgia Taylor-Brown, who finished second.

Waugh’s Remarkable Performance

Waugh’s triumph capped an outstanding debut season at the 100-kilometre distance. She showcased her dominance by winning her first T100 race in Singapore and consistently finishing on the podium in all six of her appearances. Waugh’s successful transition to the longer T100 distance followed a less than stellar performance in the Olympic distance, where she finished 15th in Paris 2024.

T100 Race Format

The T100 races consist of a 2km swim, followed by an 80km bike ride, and an 18km run. This format is nearly double the length of the Olympic triathlon distance of 51.5 km. The series features eight global stops, with the overall standings based on an athlete’s best four results plus their finish in the final event.

Overall Standings and Future Prospects

Waugh’s victory not only secured her the title but also highlighted her exceptional skill and determination throughout the season. With her podium finishes in every race, she established herself as a prominent competitor in the T100 series.

  • Race Distance: 100 km
  • Format: 2 km swim, 80 km bike ride, 18 km run
  • Overall Standings Calculation: Best four results + final finish
  • Number of Global Stops: Eight

As Kate Waugh returns from her victory, the triathlon community eagerly anticipates her continued success in future competitions. Her ability to adapt and excel in longer distances marks her as a significant athlete in the sport. With the momentum from her impressive debut season, Waugh is poised for further achievements in the competitive arena.
