Clemson Linebacker with NFL Heritage Enters Transfer Portal

Clemson University’s football program is set to lose linebacker Jamal Anderson as he prepares to enter the NCAA transfer portal. This decision has been confirmed by El-Balad. The transfer portal period opens on January 2 and will remain active until January 16 of this year.
Jamal Anderson’s Performance at Clemson
As a junior in the 2023 season, Jamal showcased his talents in the first four games of the season, including one start. Initially, he recorded three tackles, including one for a loss, during the season opener against LSU. He played a significant role in the game against Troy, where he added another three tackles. Additionally, he was credited with a tackle for loss against Georgia Tech and contributed one tackle against Syracuse.
Career Statistics
So far in his career at Clemson, Anderson has amassed a total of 15 tackles, one sack, and a blocked punt across 123 defensive snaps in 27 games, with one start.
An NFL Legacy
Jamal Anderson is not only known for his performance on the field but also for his familial connection to the NFL. He is the son of former NFL running back Jamal Anderson, who attended the University of Utah during the 1992 and 1993 seasons. The elder Anderson enjoyed an impressive eight-season career with the Atlanta Falcons, during which he accomplished four 1,000-yard seasons and earned first-team All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors in 1998.
Recruitment and Commitment
Before joining Clemson, Jamal was a standout player at Mill Creek High School in Georgia. He committed to the Tigers in June 2022 and enrolled in January 2023. His talent was recognized nationally, as ESPN ranked him as the No. 128 overall player in the 2023 recruiting class. He was also recognized as the No. 8 player in Georgia and the 12th-best outside linebacker nationwide.
Transfer Implications
With Anderson’s impending transfer, he becomes the second Clemson linebacker to enter the portal this offseason, alongside teammate Dee Crayton.
