Masked Polish Hooligans Attack Hospitalizes Three Spanish Football Fans on Motorway

In a shocking incident on a Polish motorway, three Spanish football fans were hospitalized following an attack by masked Polish hooligans. This occurred on the S8 motorway near Prosienica, east-central Poland, where the fans were traveling in coaches for a Europa Conference League match between Jagiellonia Bialystok and Rayo Vallecano.

Details of the Attack

Police reported that two vehicles blocked the coaches carrying the Spanish fans, forcing them to halt amid the night. Subsequently, dozens of assailants emerged from a nearby forest and launched an attack on the fans. Reports indicate that a fence beside the motorway had been cut to facilitate the hooligans’ approach.

Paramedics were dispatched to the scene to assist the injured. Three individuals required hospitalization due to the severity of their injuries. In connection with the incident, authorities detained seven people. During the arrests, items such as balaclavas, telescopic batons, wooden sticks, and metal-cutting shears were confiscated.

Reaction from Clubs and Authorities

Rayo Vallecano, the La Liga club involved, has not yet responded to requests for comments regarding the incident. Additionally, the club’s ultras group, the Bukaneros, has refrained from addressing the attack on their social media platforms. Spanish police also stated that they have no information about the incident as of now.

Current Team Standings

In the Europa Conference League, Jagiellonia Bialystok currently ranks ninth with eight points, while Rayo Vallecano is in twelfth place with seven points from four matches. On the domestic front, Jagiellonia Bialystok is performing well in Polish top-flight, sitting fourth in the league with 28 points from 16 matches. They trail the leaders, Wisla Plock, by only two points, holding two games in hand.

Meanwhile, Rayo Vallecano is positioned just below mid-table in La Liga, with 17 points gleaned from 15 matches. They currently sit five points clear of the relegation zone, which includes Girona, Real Oviedo, and Levante.
