RCMP Dismantles International Drug Ring Using Canada Post

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) has successfully dismantled a significant international drug trafficking operation that was allegedly misusing Canada Post services. Over a span of 10 months, investigators uncovered a network shipping illicit drugs across Canada and to various countries worldwide.
International Drug Trafficking Operation
During the investigation, authorities identified that various drugs, including methamphetamine and cocaine, were transported not only within Canada but also to over a dozen nations. The countries involved in this operation included:
- United States
- Australia
- New Zealand
- Germany
- Sweden
- France
- Spain
- Switzerland
- Netherlands
- United Kingdom
- Slovakia
- Austria
- India
- Ireland
Seizures and Arrests
On October 22, 2023, the RCMP conducted a search at a residence in Ottawa. This operation led to the seizure of nearly 1.2 kilograms of methamphetamine, 200 hydromorphone pills, and cocaine, with a total street value estimated at around $166,000.
Four individuals from Ottawa, aged between 36 and 41, were arrested during this operation. They now face serious drug trafficking charges including:
- Trafficking a controlled substance
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking
- Commission of an offense for a criminal organization
This case emphasizes the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat drug trafficking in Canada while maintaining the integrity of postal services.
