Jennifer Job Takes Oath as New Wake County School Board Member

The Wake County Board of Education welcomed a new member on Tuesday night. Jennifer Job took the oath of office to fill the District 8 position, succeeding Lindsay Mahaffey, who resigned in August. Job, who holds a doctorate in education, will serve on the board until at least 2028.

Jennifer Job brings extensive experience in the field of education. She has worked as a teacher education professor at Oklahoma State University and has teaching experience in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro district. Her commitment to education is reflected in her various roles throughout her career.

Job has outlined several key priorities for her term on the board. These include:

  • Closing the achievement gap among students
  • Developing an artificial intelligence framework for better integration of technology in education

She emphasized that her decisions on the board would be influenced greatly by her daughter’s experiences. Her daughter, Hannah, attends an elementary school in the Wake County district. Job stated, “It’s more important to me than ever that the kids are well represented, the teachers are well represented, and that we’re doing the best we can.”
