“My 7-Hour Private Jet Trip to Lapland with Kids: One Regret”

Experience the wonders of Lapland with a short yet enchanting private jet trip. One family recently embarked on a thrilling seven-hour journey to this winter paradise, leaving them with unforgettable memories. They traveled from Gatwick Airport, departing on Saturday, November 29, 2025, on a private charter with 189 participants.
Journey to Lapland
This unique adventure was arranged by the Extreme Day Trips Facebook group, created by Michael Cracknell. The group specializes in organizing quick excursions across Europe, making it possible for many to explore exciting locales within 24 hours.
For this particular trip, the family chartered a private jet to Enontekiö, a serene and picturesque area in Finnish Lapland, instead of the more touristy Rovaniemi. Despite the challenges of a tight schedule, they made the most of their day.
A Day Filled with Activities
Upon arriving around 2 PM local time after a brief three-hour flight, the family quickly began their adventures in the village of Hetta. They enjoyed an exciting lineup of activities, including:
- Meeting Santa Claus
- Husky sledding
- Reindeer sleigh rides
- Snowmobile excursions
- Downhill sledging
- Snowball fights
Karianne Brown, also known as Kari, shared that the snowmobiling and husky experience took place on a frozen lake, creating a magical setting. They were even provided with thermal boots and suits, ensuring they stayed warm throughout the day.
Dining and Relaxation
The family was treated to a warm meal consisting of salad, bread, pasta, and minced-meat bolognese. Unlimited refreshments, including warm berry juice and biscuits, were available throughout their stay, enhancing their festive experience.
Kari noted that the trip’s duration allowed for a perfect balance of activity and relaxation. While some children might have felt overwhelmed with longer excursions, the condensed schedule worked well for families.
Lessons Learned
Despite the joy of the day, Kari expressed one regret. She later discovered that returning to previously enjoyed activities was an option if the entire group participated. However, the weather was cooperative, with temperatures at a manageable -5°C, a pleasant change from earlier in the week.
After the Adventure
The group returned to Gatwick around 11 PM, full of excitement and wonderful stories. Many participants shared their positive experiences, and Kari’s daughter felt proud to be among the first in her school to visit Lapland. The family had kept their trip a surprise, revealing the destination only the night before departure.
The total cost for this magical experience was £589 per adult and £559 per child, covering flights, meals, transfers, and all the delightful activities.
Kari plans to continue taking her family on quick trips throughout Europe, having visited various thrilling destinations in the past. The ease of weekend excursions means more families can enjoy unique travel experiences without the stress of traditional holiday bookings.
For those interested in learning more about these trips, the Extreme Day Trips Facebook group offers great opportunities for adventure seekers. Kari will also share her experience through a vlog on her YouTube channel.
