Matthew Lillard Finds Five Nights At Freddy’s 2 Terrifyingly R-Rated

This week, the highly anticipated sequel, Five Nights At Freddy’s 2, is set to hit theaters. The film aims to replicate the commercial success of its predecessor, which grossed an impressive $297.1 million worldwide. Matthew Lillard, a returning star from the original, expressed concern over the film’s potential R rating after viewing the movie.
Matthew Lillard’s Reaction to the Sequel
In an interview with Dexerto, director Emma Tammi shared that Lillard found the film remarkably frightening. He questioned whether the movie could still be rated PG-13 given its intensity. Tammi emphasized that although the sequel possesses a darker tone, she aimed to maintain a PG-13 rating to ensure accessibility for younger audiences.
Darker Tone and Audience Inclusivity
Tammi highlighted her desire to satisfy older fans seeking a more terrifying experience while keeping the film appropriate for younger viewers. She noted, “We wanted to be inclusive of the younger audiences, and at the same time, we don’t want to limit how dark and scary it can feel for the older audiences.”
