Netflix Cancels Second Seasons for Exploding Kittens, Twilight of the Gods, Good Times

Netflix has decided not to renew three adult animated series for their second seasons. The cancellations include “Exploding Kittens,” “Twilight of the Gods,” and “Good Times,” each of which had premiered over a year ago. These announcements come amid ongoing developments in Netflix’s animation slate.
Exploding Kittens
“Exploding Kittens” debuted in July 2024 and is based on the popular card game. The show blends comedy and chaos by featuring a suburban battleground where God and the Devil inhabit feline bodies. Among the voice cast were renowned actors like Tom Ellis and Lucy Liu.
Despite some initial development work towards a second season, Netflix will not proceed with further episodes. However, the mobile version of the game remains available on Netflix Games, continuing to engage fans of the franchise.
Twilight of the Gods
Although the series did not achieve a spot in Netflix’s global top 10, it managed to appear in the daily top 10s in over 60 countries. Despite these moments of popularity, the project will not move forward as Snyder has shifted focus to other ventures away from the streaming service.
Good Times
The reboot of “Good Times” was the least surprising cancellation on the list. With a voice cast that included J.B. Smoove and Marsai Martin, the show stirred mixed reactions. It garnered 3.3 million views from January to June 2024 and increased to 5.4 million views by mid-2025. Despite this number, Netflix chose not to renew it for another season due to concerns over content reception.
Looking Ahead
Netflix’s animation lineup remains robust, with new projects set to launch in the near future. Upcoming titles include:
- Alley Cats
- Living The Dream
- Strip Law (February release)
- New seasons of popular series like Tomb Raider and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners
While some shows face cancellations, Netflix continues to expand its portfolio, hinting at more engaging content on the way.
