Etihad’s A380 to Launch Tokyo Route, Expanding Superjumbo Network by June 2026

Etihad Airways has officially announced plans to launch its A380 flights to Tokyo’s Narita International Airport starting June 16, 2026. This expansion marks the return of the airline’s eighth superjumbo aircraft.
Expansion of A380 Network
With the addition of Tokyo, Etihad’s A380 network now includes prominent destinations such as London, Paris, Toronto, and Singapore. The airline’s decision comes in response to increasing demand between the UAE and Japan, reflecting the strengthening economic and cultural relationships between the two countries.
Comments from Etihad’s Leadership
Arik De, Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer of Etihad Airways, expressed enthusiasm for introducing the A380 to Japan. “Our guests consistently appreciate the onboard experience,” he stated, noting the popularity of The Residence, Etihad’s unique three-room suite on the aircraft.
De emphasized the strong demand for additional seating on flights to Japan. The A380’s capacity is particularly beneficial for business travelers, given the crucial travel connections between the UAE and Japan.
Luxury Travel Experience
The new A380 service also enhances travel options for Japanese visitors to Abu Dhabi. The aircraft is designed to deliver a luxurious travel experience across all classes.
- The Residence: The world’s only three-room suite featuring a private living room, bedroom, and ensuite shower.
- First Class: Includes nine private suites with lie-flat beds, designer tableware, and personal vanities.

Each seat across classes benefits from Etihad’s renowned comfort-focused design and amenities, including full Wi-Fi connectivity for passengers.
