FX Announces ‘Far Cry’ TV Series by Noah Hawley and Rob Mac

FX has announced a new series adaptation of the popular video game franchise “Far Cry.” The project is being developed by Noah Hawley and Rob Mac, both of whom will contribute significantly to the series. Mac, known for his role in creating “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” will also star in the adaptation.

Rob Mac’s “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” is the longest-running live-action sitcom in American history, with its 17th season premiering in 2022. He also executive produces the Emmy Award-winning docuseries “Welcome to Wrexham.”

Noah Hawley is celebrated for his work on “Fargo,” which has aired five seasons and secured seven Emmy Awards from 70 nominations, as well as three Golden Globe Awards from 14 nominations. He also created the FX-Marvel series “Legion.” With a shared vision, the pair aims to bring a unique and thrilling representation of the “Far Cry” franchise to screens.

This series marks the first live-action adaptation of “Far Cry” for television. The franchise debuted in 2004 and has captivated over 100 million unique players worldwide. The latest installment, “Far Cry 6,” was released in 2021. Previously, the franchise had been adapted into a direct-to-video film in 2008 and a 2023 animated series by Netflix.

Nick Grad, president of FX Entertainment, emphasized their long-standing partnership with Mac and Hawley. He expressed confidence that they would deliver an original and captivating narrative for fans.
