Rapper Ghetts Charged with Causing Death by Dangerous Driving

Rapper Ghetts, real name Justin Clarke-Samuel, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving following a hit-and-run incident that resulted in the death of a 20-year-old man. The collision occurred on 18 October in Ilford, northeast London, at approximately 11:33 PM.
Details of the Incident
The victim, Yubin Tamang, tragically succumbed to his injuries on 20 October. Ghetts is accused of failing to stop after his BMW hit Mr. Tamang on Redbridge Lane. Following the collision, Clarke-Samuel allegedly drove dangerously in various areas, particularly Tavistock Place in Bloomsbury and roads in the Camden borough.
Additional Charges
In addition to the primary charge of causing death by dangerous driving, Ghetts now faces two further charges related to driving dangerously both before and after the incident. Authorities claim that he continued to drive recklessly in Worcester Crescent, Redbridge, while on his way back home to King’s Avenue, Woodford, in east London.
Legal Proceedings
Ghetts has remained in custody since his preliminary court appearance at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on 27 October. He recently appeared via videolink at the Old Bailey, addressing the court to confirm his identity. Mr. Tamang’s family, who traveled from Nepal, attended the hearing. The presiding judge, Nigel Lickley KC, indicated that Clarke-Samuel could continue to appear by videolink in future proceedings.
Condition of the Vehicle
The black BMW involved in the incident is reportedly registered and insured under Ghetts’ name and sustained significant damage during the collision.
Next Steps
The case has been adjourned, as the investigation continues. Ghetts remains in custody pending further legal action.
