Kenny Omega Aspires to Emulate Samoa Joe’s Success

Former World Champion Kenny Omega seeks to replicate the success of Samoa Joe, particularly in the realm of video games. Known for his passion for professional wrestling and video games, Omega recently expressed his aspirations during an interview with SHAK Wrestling of CBS Sports.

Kenny Omega’s Ambitions in Gaming

In the interview, Omega shared his admiration for Samoa Joe’s involvement in a non-wrestling video game. Joe’s role as Raymond Law in SEGA’s upcoming title, “Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii,” has inspired Omega. He noted, “Samoa Joe being in that game is very inspirational, and I hope to one day follow in his footsteps.”

Omega hopes to create a character in a non-wrestling video game, expressing, “Whether I’m Kenny Omega in a game or not, it’d be cool. That’s one of my goals outside of wrestling.” Although Omega appeared in the 2023 remake of “Like A Dragon: Ishin,” his contribution was limited to a special “Trooper Card.” Additionally, he has featured in several All Elite Wrestling video games.

Samoa Joe’s Video Game Ventures

Samoa Joe’s ventures in non-wrestling projects are noteworthy. His most recognized role outside wrestling includes appearances in films and video games, with “Twisted Metal” being a significant highlight.

Kenny Omega’s Future in Wrestling

The conversation with SHAK Wrestling also touched on Omega’s future in wrestling. At 42 years old, he reflected on his health issues, including a recent battle with diverticulitis. He expressed a desire to retire without regrets, aiming to leave the sport while still retaining some athleticism.

Omega stated, “I’d like to leave while I have some semblance of athleticism left in my body. I don’t want to completely work until the wheels fall off.” He emphasized the importance of preserving his legacy, preferring to exit the ring at a time that aligns with his personal goals.

Upcoming Competitions

Kenny Omega is set to compete at the upcoming Full Gear Pay-Per-View event. He will face strong opponents, including The Young Bucks and Josh Alexander, as he continues his career in wrestling.
