The 75th birthday celebration for the graduating class of 1949/50 from Rothenbuch took place in Bamberg. The event included a nostalgic journey and various activities that highlighted the beauty and culture of the region.

Journey to Bamberg

The day began early, with participants departing from Aschaffenburg’s main train station at 8:16 AM. After stops in Heigenbrücken and Lohr, everyone was onboard, and the group continued their journey through Würzburg and Haßfurt, arriving in Bamberg around noon. A welcome breakfast with sparkling wine and pastries marked the official start of their celebrations.

Exploring Bamberg

Upon arrival, attendees were greeted warmly by former classmate Traudel and her husband. The group ventured on foot through Bamberg, passing over the Regnitz Bridge and the Saturday market, eventually reaching the famed Schlenkerla brewery. Here, they enjoyed traditional Franconian snacks paired with freshly brewed smoked beer.

Historic Sites and Concert

  • Visited the Domberg, the historical center of Bamberg.
  • Enjoyed an organ concert at the Bamberger Dom.
  • Explored notable sites including the tombs of Emperors Heinrich II and Kunigunde, and Pope Clement II.

City Tour on the “Rote Bamberg Büsla”

The highlight of the day was a city tour aboard the “Rote Bamberg Büsla,” an adapted American school bus with room for 24 passengers. The tour began at Domberg, guided by an expert who shared captivating insights about various landmarks, including:

As the event concluded, the group expressed gratitude to Traudel and her husband for their splendid organization. The day wrapped up with a church service at St. Nikolaus for the living and the deceased, followed by a relaxed gathering at the Gasthaus zum Löwen. The 75th birthday celebration left a lasting impression, filled with joyful experiences, and hopes for more shared activities in good health.
