Santa Claus Parade Transforms Toronto Streets This Weekend

The 121st annual Santa Claus Parade is set to bring cheer to the streets of Toronto this weekend. Scheduled for Sunday, December 6, the event promises festive floats, marching bands, and lively participants, including Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus, as they make their way from Christie Pits to St. Lawrence Market.

Before the parade, the Holly Jolly Fun Run will take place, commencing at 11:45 a.m. from Christie Pits. This five-kilometre race will raise funds for the parade, and spots are still available for interested participants.

Road Closures for the Parade

To ensure safety during the event, several road closures will occur on Sunday:

  • Bloor Street West from Ossington Avenue to Christie Street starting at 7 a.m.
  • Spadina Avenue between Lowther Avenue and Willcocks Street, closed at 11 a.m.
  • Queen’s Park Crescent from Bloor Street West to College Street, closed at 11 a.m.
  • Multiple other streets will also be closed by 11 a.m., including University Avenue, Dundas Street West, and Front Street West.

Vehicles parked along the parade route will begin to be towed at 6 a.m., and roads are expected to reopen by 6 p.m.

Transportation Adjustments

The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) plans to run additional subway services on Line 1 and Line 2 on Sunday to accommodate parade-goers. However, note that Line 1 will experience a closure between St. George and St. Andrew on Saturday, December 5, due to scheduled maintenance.
