Dwayne Johnson Honors Robin Williams in First Look at ‘Jumanji 3’ Set

The highly anticipated sequel to the Jumanji franchise, known informally as Jumanji 3, is officially underway. The film’s production began recently, and the cast shared an exciting glimpse from the set on Instagram.

Prominent stars Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, Dwayne Johnson, and Jack Black appeared together in a costume photo captioned, “Look who’s on the loose.” Hart expressed enthusiasm, stating, “Back in action and loving it…I missed you Jumanji.… This one will be our biggest!”
Returning to the Franchise
This new installment follows the success of 2017’s Jumanji: The Next Level, revitalizing the series that originally featured Robin Williams in the 1995 adaptation of Chris Van Allsburg’s beloved 1981 children’s book. Jake Kasdan returns as director for this untitled sequel, also co-writing the script alongside Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg.
Release Date and Production
Jumanji 3 is set to hit theaters on December 11, 2026. Johnson recently shared a video on Instagram showcasing his arrival on the Universal Studios backlot, where filming takes place. He expressed his excitement, noting, “So good to be shooting in Los Angeles. I have not shot a film in Los Angeles in…I don’t know when.”
A Tribute to Robin Williams
In a heartfelt moment, Johnson revealed that his character would wear a necklace featuring the original Jumanji dice used in the 1995 film. He stated, “This is the dice from the original Jumanji with Robin Williams as a show of respect and a way of honoring Robin and this entire franchise that he started as we film our very last Jumanji.”
