UAE: Minister Silvio Costa Filho Discusses Integrated Logistics with Officials

The UAE’s Minister Silvio Costa Filho recently engaged in discussions focused on integrated logistics with officials in Dubai. This meeting aimed to enhance air connectivity and diversify routes between the UAE and Brazil.
Minister’s Important Discussions on Integrated Logistics
On his second day in Dubai, Costa Filho met with Sheikh Mohammed Al Mansouri, the UAE’s Secretary of Infrastructure and Transport. The primary aim was to strengthen partnerships in integrated logistics and attract investments for the Brazilian Ministry’s portfolio, including port and airport concessions.
“The meeting was very productive,” Costa Filho noted. He emphasized the importance of integrating advanced technologies to modernize Brazil’s ports and logistical corridors effectively.
Collaboration on Sustainability and Technology
- Strengthen technical cooperation between Brazil and the UAE.
- Focus on sustainability and decarbonizing maritime transport.
- Discuss the expansion of biofuels.
The agenda included meetings with both public and private sectors in the UAE, aimed at fostering deeper technological partnerships.
Participation in the Dubai Airshow
On the first day of his mission, Costa Filho visited the Dubai Airshow, a significant global aerospace event with over 1,500 exhibitors and 148,000 attendees.
Strengthening Brazilian Aviation
Later, Costa Filho met Steve Allen, CEO of Dnata, a company operating in several Brazilian airports. The minister expressed the importance of Dnata in strengthening the Brazilian aviation sector and the growing international confidence in Brazil.
Expanding Air Connectivity
In a bid to enhance air connectivity to Brazil, Costa Filho also held talks with Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airlines. They discussed the potential increase of flights to Brazil, particularly focusing on the Northeast region.
“Our discussions were very optimistic,” said Costa Filho, who is determined to facilitate new Emirates operations in Brazil.
Emirates Airlines currently operates a fleet of approximately 260 aircraft, serving 148 global destinations. In Brazil, it connects major airports, including São Paulo/Guarulhos and Rio de Janeiro/Galeão, and has codeshare agreements with Azul, Gol, and Latam.
This mission underscores Brazil’s commitment to enhancing international relations and logistics capabilities, crucial for the country’s development.
