Pierce Brosnan Eager to Reprise Doctor Fate, Hints at ‘Superman’ Role

Pierce Brosnan has expressed enthusiasm about revisiting his role as Doctor Fate. This comes after his portrayal of the character in the 2022 film “Black Adam”. The actor shared insights during a GQ interview regarding the potential for Doctor Fate to appear in upcoming DC projects.

Brosnan stated he would be open to reprising his role as Kent Nelson, also known as Doctor Fate. He mentioned, “I enjoyed that, the philosophy of that character, very much, and I would definitely be open to it.”

Upcoming DC Projects

The next installment in the DC Cinematic Universe is titled “Man of Tomorrow”. This film, set to be directed by James Gunn, is scheduled for release on July 9, 2027. It will feature David Corenswet as Superman and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.

Doctor Fate’s Potential Role

James Gunn hinted at Doctor Fate’s involvement in the new storyline. He noted that a mural depicting the Hall of Justice in “Superman” includes the character. Gunn said, “I think Doctor Fate’s in there.”

In an interview with Rolling Stone, he emphasized the care taken in planning the mural and hinted at future projects involving the characters depicted.

Other Developments in the DC Universe

DC previously announced a film focusing on Supergirl, set for June 26, 2026. Additionally, the studio is gearing up for production on “Clayface”, which is slated for release on September 11, 2026.

The Reset of the DC Cinematic Universe

Gunn’s “Superman” is seen as a pivotal film to reset the DC Cinematic Universe. The movie opened on July 11 and grossed $125 million at the domestic box office. It went on to become the first DC film to surpass the $300 million mark at the domestic box office since “The Batman” in 2022.
