90 SFG Wins Crow Creek Challenge Triumphantly

On October 3, 2025, the 90th Security Forces Group (90 SFG) took part in the annual Crow Creek Challenge at F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyoming. This iconic event, which has been held for 31 years, assesses teamwork, agility, and strength through a series of demanding tasks.
The Crow Creek Challenge
The Crow Creek Challenge invites teams of five or more to cover a distance of 4.8 miles on the base. Throughout the course, participants stop at various stations to complete tasks essential for military readiness. Technical Sergeant Terry Lucas, a member of the 90th Security Forces Squadron, emphasized the event’s significant role in fostering skills necessary for warfighting.
Event Structure and Activities
- Participants: Seven teams from 90 SFG
- Distance: 4.8 miles
- Challenges: Various physically and mentally demanding tasks
The challenge included activities such as:
- Tactical Combat Casualty Care
- Calisthenics
- Memorization
- Ranger circuit
- Weapons disassembly and assembly
- Final “team pain” station
The “team pain” station pushed the defenders to their limits. Participants endured cold water and muddy conditions while completing various exercises, including running while holding an ammo can overhead. Senior Airman William Sheldon served as cadre for this final challenge, motivating the participants to harness their warrior spirit.
The Warrior Mindset
Sheldon remarked on the challenge’s difficulty, noting that some participants may quit under pressure. However, he highlighted that many demonstrated resilience and commitment to their teams, refusing to back down despite physical strain.
As the Crow Creek Challenge concluded, the 90th Security Forces Group exemplified dedication to fitness, teamwork, and persistence, enhancing camaraderie among participants.
This year’s event not only showcased their physical capabilities but also significantly boosted morale within the unit.
