Metró Green Line Service Disrupted for Second Consecutive Day

Service disruptions on the Montreal métro’s Green Line have continued for the second consecutive day, affecting daily commuters. Service was halted for over an hour on Wednesday, impacting the route between Angrignon and Lionel-Groulx stations.
Details of the Service Disruption
The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) reported that the outage began around 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Initially, service was expected to resume at 3:30 p.m., but that time was later adjusted to 3:45 p.m. and then to 4:15 p.m. By 3:58 p.m., the STM began to indicate that service was gradually resuming.
Previous Day’s Incident
The same section experienced an interruption the previous day due to an incident at Jolicoeur station. This disruption lasted nearly two hours during rush hour as authorities responded to a person in distress.
Réseau Express Métropolitain Update
On Wednesday, around the same time as the métro outage, the Réseau express métropolitain (REM) also reported a service interruption. The issue affected a section of its network, impacting both the Deux-Montagnes and Anse-à-l’Orme branches.
- Service was halted between Montpellier station and Des Sources station.
- Île Bigras station was included in the affected route.
- The cause was identified as a “rolling stock problem.”
- Service was expected to resume at around 4:15 p.m., but the resumption time was not confirmed.
Commuters are advised to check for updates on travel options and service availability through official channels. These disruptions serve as a reminder of the importance of reliable public transport in urban areas.
