REM Offers Free Weekend Service to Explore New Stations

To celebrate the launch of the new Deux-Montagnes station, REM is offering free weekend service. This initiative encourages passengers to explore the extensive REM network.

Free Weekend Service Details

The free service will operate on Saturday, November 15, and Sunday, November 16, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. During this period, riders can enjoy complimentary travel across the station network.

Operating Schedule

  • Deux-Montagnes to Gare Centrale: Free rides available from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Brossard to Gare Centrale: Service will run according to the regular schedule.

Official Opening

The Deux-Montagnes branch is set to officially open on November 17. Public interest is expected to be high during the weekend celebration.

Visitor Guidelines

Due to anticipated ridership, REM has announced that bicycles and pets will not be permitted during the free service hours. Visitors planning to travel from McGill to Deux-Montagnes should allocate about two and a half hours for the complete round trip.

Accessibility and Alternatives

REM stations are designed for easy access. Travelers can reach them via foot, bike, or public transport. Many stations also offer car parking facilities.

With the possibility of a full shutdown of STM services following a recent strike approval, this complimentary REM service may provide crucial support for public transit users over the weekend.
