Bihar Election 2025: Counting Begins

The counting for Bihar’s 243 assembly seats started at 8 AM today. This electoral decision is highly anticipated, with results expected by this evening. Alongside Bihar, bypoll results from eight assembly seats across six states, including Jammu and Kashmir, are also being counted.

NDA vs. MGB: Early Trends

Initial trends indicate a strong performance by the NDA. By 9:15 AM, the NDA was projected to be leading in 130 seats, while the MGB held only 65 seats. This performance reflects a conversion rate of approximately 27% for the MGB.

  • Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP): 60 seats
  • Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)): 54 seats

Together, the BJP and JD(U) achieved an impressive average conversion rate of around 67%, solidifying their position in the assembly.

Background of the Elections

The Bihar elections took place in two phases on November 6 and November 11. This election is historic as it is the first assembly election held in two decades that followed a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. This revision aimed to enhance the integrity of the electoral process.

The outcomes of these elections will not only shape the future political dynamics of Bihar but may also have broader implications for national politics.
