“Tejashwi Yadav Confident as Bihar Vote Counting Begins”

As the vote counting begins for the Bihar elections, Tejashwi Yadav, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader, expressed optimism about his party’s chances. The 34-year-old politician, who is the opposition’s chief ministerial candidate, stated, “We are going to win. Thanks to everyone. A change is about to come. We are forming the government.” He made the remarks outside his residence in Patna shortly before the count commenced.

Key Details of the Bihar Elections

  • Date of Voting: November 6 and 11, 2025
  • Seats in Bihar Assembly: 243
  • Majority Required: 122 seats

Tejashwi Yadav’s Political Landscape

Tejashwi Yadav is contesting in the Raghopur constituency, a significant area for his party. His main rival appears to be Satish Kumar from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The RJD is forming an alliance with Congress, a leftist front, and the Vikassheel Insaan Party led by Mukesh Sahani, who has been designated as the Deputy Chief Ministerial face for the coalition.

Yadav’s confidence is juxtaposed against troubling predictions from eleven exit polls, which indicate a substantial win for the ruling alliance led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal United (JD-U) and the BJP. These polls suggest that the NDA could secure approximately 147 seats while the opposition may capture about 90 seats.

Allegations of Vote Manipulation

Tejashwi Yadav raised concerns about possible delays in the vote-counting process, claiming that certain strategies may be employed to manipulate the election results. He appealed to the Election Commission for impartiality during the counting of votes, particularly in constituencies where the margins could be narrow.

The RJD leader’s apprehensions stem from the 2020 elections, where the Mahagathbandhan faced a narrow defeat, falling short by only 12 seats. The loss in several constituencies was by margins of fewer than 1,000 votes, raising questions about electoral integrity.

As the counting continues, the political landscape in Bihar remains tense, with both Yadav and his supporters hoping to overcome the predictions and achieve victory.
