Maeder and Martin Secure BIG EAST Weekly Awards

Creighton Volleyball players Annalea Maeder and Ava Martin received honors from the BIG EAST Conference for their outstanding performances. Announced on a recent Monday, Maeder was named the BIG EAST Setter of the Week, while Martin earned the title of BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week.
Maeder’s Stellar Performance
Annalea Maeder averaged an impressive 10.29 assists per set, leading the league. Additionally, she contributed 2.71 digs and 0.43 kills per set, playing a critical role in Creighton’s victories over both Villanova and Georgetown.
- Defeated Villanova 3-1, with 43 assists and 12 digs.
- Contributed to a 3-0 sweep against Georgetown, recording 29 assists, seven digs, and two kills.
Maeder’s efforts helped Creighton achieve a league-record 45 consecutive regular-season BIG EAST wins. This recognition marks her sixth Setter of the Week accolade this season and overall.
Martin’s Offensive Impact
Ava Martin showcased her offensive skills by averaging a league-best 5.14 kills per set. She also recorded 2.00 digs, 0.14 blocks, and 0.14 aces per set with a hitting percentage of .313.
- Delivered 23 kills and a season-high 14 digs against Villanova.
- Achieved 13 kills while hitting .370 in the match against Georgetown.
Martin concludes her home career with a remarkable 40-0 record against BIG EAST opponents at D.J. Sokol Arena. This honor marks Martin’s fifth Offensive Player of the Week award this season, adding to her impressive total of nine career recognitions.
