Calgary Hosts 2025 Remembrance Day Ceremonies and Events

On November 11, 2025, Calgary will honor those who sacrificed their lives for Canada’s freedom during the Remembrance Day ceremonies. This statutory holiday in Alberta will see numerous events throughout the city, allowing citizens to pay their respects.

Key Remembrance Day Events in Calgary

  • Field of Crosses: A ceremony begins at 10:30 a.m. at Memorial Drive N.W., featuring over 3,700 white crosses commemorating local heroes. The area will close to traffic by 9 a.m.
  • Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium: Doors open at 9 a.m. with the ceremony starting at 10:30 a.m. at 1415 14th Ave. N.W. Free parking will be available.
  • King’s Own Calgary Regiment: A ceremony at the 137 Battalion Memorial in North Glenmore Park begins at 10:30 a.m., complete with a parade and regimental band.
  • The Hangar Flight Museum: The outdoor ceremony starts at 10:30 a.m., with guests asked to arrive by 10:15 a.m. Donations will support museum access following the service.
  • The Military Museums: The ceremony scheduled for 10:45 a.m. encourages early arrival. Participants can lay wreaths at the Eternal Flame after the event, with entry by donation.
  • Studio Bell National Music Centre: At 10:40 a.m., the Central Alberta Chamber Players will participate and a film screening of “Tattoo 67” follows the ceremony.
  • CPKC Memorial Square: At 10 a.m., a moment of silence and train whistle will honor over 33,000 Canadian Pacific employees who served in the World Wars.
  • Calgary Highlanders Remembrance Day Parade: Starting at 10 a.m., this parade around Central Memorial Park will affect several roadways until 1 p.m.

Transportation and Availability

On Remembrance Day, Calgary Transit will operate on a Saturday level of service. Veterans and their family members can use public transport for free.

  • Calgary Public Library: All branches will be closed.
  • Malls: Reduced hours are expected, with memorial displays at Chinook Centre and Market Mall.
  • Leisure Centres: Free swimming sessions will be offered at select aquatic centers. Most other leisure facilities will be closed.
