Winter Tourism in Haute-Savoie Mont-Blanc Reaches New Heights

The winter tourism scene in Haute-Savoie Mont-Blanc is showing significant growth for the upcoming 2026 season. Recent data from G2A, dated October 22, 2025, reveals a 2% increase in bookings compared to the previous year. This rise reflects increased confidence in the destination and greater anticipation from travelers.

Strong Holiday Season Anticipated

The Christmas and New Year holidays are key drivers for this winter season. A general increase in bookings has been noted across the region. Current occupancy rates are at an average of 31.6%. Specifically, holiday bookings for the end of the year have increased by 5.8 points, peaking at 7 points for the New Year week, which historically has seen 93% occupancy last winter.

Positive Impact of Previous Winter

The encouraging outlook for this season can be attributed to the favorable snow conditions experienced last winter in 2025. Such weather positively influenced traveler confidence, alleviating climate uncertainties of prior years.

Popularity of Village Resorts

  • Village resorts, often referred to as “Stations de charme,” are experiencing a notable increase in interest.
  • Occupancy rates for these charming stations are currently at 67% for Christmas and 45% for the winter holidays.
  • This growth exceeds trends observed in larger, high-altitude resorts.

This trend highlights the appeal of smaller resorts among families seeking authenticity and tranquility during their holiday vacations.

Peak Seasons and Trends

While the village stations are thriving, traditional high-altitude resorts continue to dominate the January and March periods. These larger ski areas maintain their historical lead during off-peak weeks, demonstrating their lasting popularity.

The combination of rising bookings and positive experiences in prior seasons positions Haute-Savoie Mont-Blanc as a prominent destination for winter tourism in the coming year.
