Oregon Reserve Cornerback Exits Program to Transfer

A significant shift has occurred in the Oregon football program as cornerback Dakoda Fields announces his intent to transfer. This decision marks the second cornerback departure from the Ducks in a week, following Jahlil Florence’s exit.
Dakoda Fields’ Transfer Announcement
Coach Dan Lanning confirmed Fields’ departure after practice on Wednesday. “He didn’t come to work today,” Lanning stated. The news was first reported by On3, and by the afternoon, Fields had removed references to Oregon from his social media profiles.
Player Background and Performance
Fields, a high-profile recruit from the class of 2024, was ranked among the top 100 nationally. Standing 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing 200 pounds, he was a four-star prospect from Junipero Serra High School. Despite his promising background, Fields recorded only one tackle in the first three games of this season and did not travel with the team to Rutgers.
Eligibility Status
Fields did not play last season, primarily due to injuries. He may seek a medical hardship waiver, which could provide him with three additional years of eligibility.
Impact on Oregon’s Roster
With Fields and Florence both leaving the program, Oregon’s cornerback depth will be significantly affected. The departures, alongside Theran Johnson completing his eligibility, will leave the Ducks with just five returning cornerbacks in 2026 and one commitment.
Upcoming Matchup
The No. 9 ranked Oregon Ducks, currently with a 7-1 record and 4-1 in the Big Ten, are set to face No. 20 Iowa, which holds a 6-2 record. The game is scheduled for Saturday, November 8, at 12:30 PM PT at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City.
