Shanghai Food & Drink News Update: November 2025

The Shanghai food and drink scene continues to evolve, with numerous openings and closures reported for November 2025. Here are the latest updates on restaurants, bars, and food concepts in the city.

Upcoming Openings in Shanghai

Hikiniku To Come

Hikiniku To Come will open this December at FUFU, located on Donghu Lu. This Japanese restaurant specializes in hamburger steak served over rice. With over a dozen locations in Asia, it offers a signature dish made from Australian wagyu beef.

The Dome

Situated on the Bund at 1 Yan’an Dong Lu, The Dome will open soon. This modern Japanese restaurant features a rooftop lounge. Expect an omakase bar and multiple terraces with views of the Bund, curated cocktails, and Japanese à la carte dishes.

Nono’s

Scheduled to open on Yongfu Lu in December, Nono’s is a new fusion restaurant by the team behind Yaya’s. Under executive chef Chris Zhu, dishes will merge Italian and Chinese flavors in a chic atmosphere.

Times

OUD Group’s new bistro, Times, opens in late November or December on Yongkang Lu. It will feature Cantonese-inspired cocktails and small plates combining western and Cantonese cuisines.

The Return of Yuyintang

Yuyintang, a renowned live music venue, is set to reopen in CPARK in Changning. The upgraded venue will feature two stages with capacities of 150 and 300 guests, with operations beginning in late November.

Specters Relocation

Punk dive bar Specters will move from Yuyuan Lu to the basement of CPARK, closing its current location on November 15. The new space will accommodate community events and art shows.

Alea & Fabula

Alea, a casual fine dining bistro, will soft open on November 10. This new establishment, along with Fabula, will occupy a renovated space that allows for a more extensive dining experience.

The Treasury & Madame Ching

Opening soon on Yanping Lu, The Treasury is a hidden bar inspired by the tales of female pirate leader Ching Shih. The Cantonese tapas restaurant, Madame Ching, will open alongside it in December.

Recently Opened Restaurants

Feral Banh Mi

Feral Banh Mi has opened in Jing’an, offering authentic Vietnamese sandwiches. This establishment transitioned from a street cart to a brick-and-mortar shop last month.

Terroir Strong

Located in Xintiandi, Terroir Strong focuses on northwest Chinese cuisine. Currently in soft opening, it offers a contemporary dining experience for about ¥300 per person.

Yongping Li Updates

  • Kungfu in Motion: A Japanese-Chinese fusion restaurant is now available.
  • Tabani: A Russian bar serving classic dishes has opened its doors.
  • Jomoo Canteen: A casual Italian concept is now situated in Yongping Li.

Tan Sichuan Cuisine

Now open in Yu Gardens, Tan Sichuan offers authentic Sichuan dishes in a popular tourist area. Operated by Chengdu’s Michelin-listed THE BRIDGE, this venue diverges from its sister restaurant’s menu.

Reopenings and Closures

Black Glove

The cocktail bar Black Glove has reopened on Taikang Lu, retaining its focus on gin and adding a simple snack menu and shisha options.

Closure List

  • Harrods Tea Rooms will close in January 2026.
  • Maolaguo has shut its Julu Lu location.
  • Sunday’s and XIBO at Fengsheng Li have both closed.
  • La Creperie and Limo Limo have also ceased operations.
