Huntingdon Train Attacker Tied to Multiple Knife Incidents

A man has been charged in connection with multiple knife incidents across the UK. Anthony Williams, aged 32 and without a fixed address, faces 10 counts of attempted murder following a mass stabbing on a train from Doncaster to London King’s Cross. The British Transport Police (BTP) is linking this case to several other violent incidents involving knives.
Details of the Train Stabbing Incident
The stabbing on the train occurred on a Saturday afternoon while traveling through Cambridgeshire. The LNER service made an emergency stop in Huntingdon after the attack, which left ten individuals injured. Following this event, BTP has reported that seven victims have since been discharged from the hospital, while three remain hospitalized in stable condition. Tragically, one rail worker, Samir Zitouni, is still critically unwell after he intervened to protect a young girl during the attack.
Connections to Other Knife Incidents
- On Friday evening, a 14-year-old boy was stabbed on Henry Penn Walk in Peterborough.
- Two separate incidents occurred at a barbershop in Fletton, Peterborough, involving a man with a knife.
- A stabbing incident took place on a Docklands Light Railway (DLR) train at Pontoon Dock early Saturday morning.
Mr. Williams has also been charged with an 11th count of attempted murder related to the DLR stabbing of a 17-year-old passenger.
Police Response and Community Concerns
In response to these attacks, Deputy Chief Constable Stuart Cundy stated that the BTP is enhancing the visibility of police officers across the railway network to reassure staff and the public. Additionally, Cambridgeshire Police Chief Constable Simon Megicks has initiated an internal review of the events leading up to the train stabbings.
The ongoing situation has raised concerns within communities, highlighting the urgent need for effective measures to address knife violence. The BTP and local police are urging anyone with information related to these incidents to come forward as investigations continue.
