Jared Davidson Shines Early in Rocket de Laval Season

Jared Davidson, a 23-year-old forward for Rocket de Laval, is making a name for himself this season. With a remarkable junior career and promising professional beginnings, Davidson is showing that he deserves attention among Montreal Canadiens’ prospects.
Unconventional Journey to Success
Davidson’s path to the professional league was not without challenges. His junior career in the WHL with the Seattle Thunderbirds featured setbacks, including two seasons impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite these hurdles, he emerged as a standout player, scoring 80 goals and recording 171 points over 124 games in his last two seasons.
His performance led to his selection by the Canadiens in the fifth round of the 2022 NHL Draft, one day after turning 20. He walked away with experience in two WHL Finals, an Ed Chynoweth Cup, and a Memorial Cup appearance.
Strong Start to Professional Career
In his inaugural season with Rocket de Laval, Davidson faced more struggles, including injuries that limited his appearances. Nevertheless, he rebounded impressively in the 2024-25 season, scoring 24 goals and accumulating 45 points in 69 games, demonstrating resilience and adaptability.
Currently, Davidson has continued his strong performance with seven goals in just ten games this season, placing him among the top scorers in the American Hockey League. His consistency is evident, scoring in his last four games.
Focus on Improvement
Davidson is not resting on his laurels. He is focused on continual improvement and aims to enhance his speed, strength, and physicality. “I want to play in the NHL, so I think I need to become a little faster and a little stronger,” he stated. His offseason training has paid off, as evidenced by his on-ice performance.
Competing for NHL Spot
Competition within the Rocket de Laval roster is fierce. Fellow players, including Owen Beck and Joshua Roy, have been called up to the Canadiens this season, heightening Davidson’s drive to excel. Coach Pascal Vincent has noted that Davidson is in discussions for a potential call-up, emphasizing the importance of continued performance.
