Babyshambles Releases First New Track in 12 Years, ‘Dandy Hooligan’

Babyshambles has made a notable return with their new single, “Dandy Hooligan.” This marks the band’s first release in over twelve years. The track is a precursor to their much-anticipated reunion tour, scheduled to commence in November 2025.

Details about “Dandy Hooligan”

“Dandy Hooligan” showcases a blend of reggae, ska, and pop elements. Pete Doherty describes it as “a well-turned-out, elegantly crafted” song with an infectious melody. The lyrics pay tribute to a notorious figure associated with the band and reflect on themes of bravado and style.

Inspiration Behind the Song

The single draws inspiration from Bob Morris, a Babyshambles associate known for his active role against racism. Morris appears in the official music video, filmed in Soho by Roger Sargent. The song’s verses capture a vivid character sketch that aligns with Morris’s rebellious spirit.

Recording and Production

Recorded earlier this month in Normandy and Manchester, “Dandy Hooligan” was produced by Mike Moore and mixed by Ross Orton, notable for his work with Arctic Monkeys and M.I.A.

The Band’s Journey

Babyshambles, formed in the early 2000s, previously released three studio albums: “Down In Albion” in 2005, followed by “Shotter’s Nation” in 2007 and “Sequel To The Prequel” in 2013. The reunion has been facilitated by Doherty and guitarist Mick Whitnall both achieving long-term sobriety.

Tragically, the band’s original guitarist, Patrick Walden, passed away in June, which intensified their motivation to reunite. Doherty emphasizes the importance of commemorating Walden during their upcoming performances.
