All Elite Wrestling (AEW) is preparing to introduce a new championship title. AEW President Tony Khan announced this development alongside broadcaster Tony Schiavone shortly before the latest episode of AEW Dynamite aired from the Bayou Music Center in Houston, Texas.
Return of the National Championship
The National Championship, previously unified with the United States Championship in 1986, will be reinstated in AEW. Tony Khan, a traditionalist in professional wrestling, expressed his enthusiasm for reviving this title. The championship is set to be defended not only in AEW but also across other promotions, including NJPW Strong and Ring of Honor.
Upcoming Full Gear Event
A Casino Gauntlet Match will take place at the Full Gear event on Saturday, November 22. The winner of this match will be crowned the first AEW National Champion in nearly four decades. Competitors for this match have yet to be announced.
AEW Dynamite Highlights
During the broadcast of AEW Dynamite, Tony Schiavone intended to share further details about the National Championship. However, he was interrupted by Samoa Joe and his faction, who engaged him in a discussion regarding recent events involving Hangman Adam Page. The AEW World Champion, alongside HOOK and Eddie Kingston, quickly intervened to protect Schiavone.
