Ex-TV Anchor Allegedly Kills Mother, Claims Self-Defense to Police

A former television anchor is facing serious charges after a tragic incident involving her elderly mother. Angelynn “Angie” Mock, 47, allegedly stabbed her mother, 80-year-old Anita Avers, to death in their shared home in Wichita, Kansas.

The Wichita Police Department responded to the home around 7:50 a.m. on a Friday. Upon arrival, officers found Mock outside with visible injuries to her hands. Inside, they discovered Avers unresponsive in her bed, suffering from multiple stab wounds. Emergency responders rushed Avers to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Mock was treated for her injuries at a hospital before being arrested. She is currently held in the Sedgwick County Jail on a first-degree murder charge and is facing a bond set at $1 million.
