After losing the first set 6-7 (2), the 19-year-old from Toronto showcased remarkable resilience. She won the next two sets with scores of 6-1 and 6-4, completing the match in one hour and 48 minutes.

Leylah Fernandez Dominates Her Opener
Second-seeded Leylah Fernandez also advanced smoothly in her opening match. The 23-year-old from Laval, Quebec, defeated Wang Xiyu of China with a decisive score of 6-1, 6-4. This victory positions Fernandez to face Germany’s Eva Lys in the next round.
