Team Rachel Homan will compete for the gold medal at the 2025 United States Steel Pan Continental Curling Championships. The final match will take place on Sunday at the Iron Trail Motors Event Center in Virginia, Minnesota, where Team Canada faces off against Team Rui Wang from China at 5:30 p.m. Eastern Time.

Path to the Gold Medal Game

In a crucial semifinal on Saturday, Homan and her team triumphed over Team Tabitha Peterson from the United States with a score of 8-3. The Canadian lineup includes:

  • Rachel Homan – Skip
  • Tracy Fleury – Vice-skip
  • Emma Miskew – Second
  • Sarah Wilkes – Lead
  • Rachelle Brown – Alternate
  • Renee Sonnenberg – Coach
  • Viktor Kjell – Coach

This marks the second consecutive Sunday final for Team Homan, who recently secured their 19th Grand Slam championship in Nisku, Alberta.

Game Highlights

The semifinal showcased Homan’s strategic play and teamwork. After a scoreless first end, the team rallied, taking a lead thanks to effective shots from Miskew and Homan. A highlight came when Homan executed a double runback takeout, significantly hampering Team Peterson’s scoring chances.

Miskew delivered an outstanding performance, finishing the match with a 94 percent success rate. Homan praised her teammate’s impact, stating, “She was phenomenal. She stepped up her game, and that’s a difference-maker in big games.”

Looking Ahead: The Final

Canada’s opponents, Team China, have remained undefeated with a 7-0 record. In their semifinal, they edged out South Korea’s Team Eunji Gim 6-5 in an extra end. In their earlier round-robin encounter, China narrowly defeated Canada 7-6.

Miskew expressed optimism about their upcoming final, emphasizing their learning and growth throughout the tournament. “It’s almost freeing to make the final and know that you’ll be playing for a medal,” she said.

On the same day, Team Brad Jacobs from Calgary will compete against Team John Shuster from the United States in the men’s final at 1:30 p.m. The bronze-medal game, featuring the United States and South Korea, is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.
