Arapahoe Basin Set to Open 2025-26 Colorado Ski Season on Oct. 26

Arapahoe Basin Ski Area is gearing up for the 2025-26 ski season with its opening scheduled for Sunday, October 26, 2025. The resort will commence operations at 8:30 a.m., offering skiing opportunities until 4 p.m. daily, as long as conditions allow.

Details of the Opening Day

Alan Henceroth, the president and COO of Arapahoe Basin, expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming season. He noted that this is a chance to showcase what A-Basin stands for. The resort welcomes both first-time visitors with the Ikon Pass and returning guests.

On the inaugural day, skiers can access the High Noon run, a blue-level trail reachable via the Black Mountain Express lift. The resort plans to ramp up snowmaking efforts to open additional terrain, targeting areas like Lenawee Face and Dercum’s Gulch shortly thereafter.

Opening Day Festivities

  • Giveaways and prizes for early arrivals
  • Complimentary donuts for the first guests in line
  • Live music throughout the day in the base area

Notably, no parking reservations are required on opening day. However, guests will need to reserve parking on weekends from January 3 to May 3, 2025.

Ikon Pass Changes

To enhance access for skiers and snowboarders, Arapahoe Basin made changes to the Ikon Pass ahead of the new season. The Ikon Base Pass now allows unlimited access at A-Basin from opening day until December 19, 2025. Notably, these early season days will not count against the five-day limit given to base pass holders for the rest of the season, beginning December 20.

Full Ikon Pass holders meanwhile enjoy unlimited access to Arapahoe Basin, following its acquisition by Alterra Mountain Company. These changes aim to improve the experience for winter sports enthusiasts at one of Colorado’s beloved ski areas.
