On October 3, Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages LLC initiated a recall involving the following products:
- 1,115 units of Coca-Cola Zero Sugar in 12-ounce cans across 12 and 35 packs.
- 2,322 units of Coca-Cola in 12-ounce cans in 24 and 35 packs.
- 791 units of Sprite in 12-ounce cans in 12 and 35 packs.
FDA’s Classification
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) classified this recall as a Class II. This classification indicates that exposure to the recalled products “may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences,” but the probability of serious health effects is low.
Distribution and Withdrawal
A spokesperson for Coca-Cola confirmed that the affected products were mainly distributed in the McAllen/Rio Grande Valley and San Antonio regions of Texas. These items were removed from store shelves by October 10 as a precautionary measure, ensuring consumer safety.
