A tragic incident occurred in France as a German tourist, aged 45, lost his life in floodwaters on the island of Corsica. This event unfolded during a severe storm that impacted the region, resulting in widespread power outages.

The storm, named Benjamin, brought with it fierce winds exceeding 100 km/h. As of Thursday afternoon, over 60,000 homes remained without electricity, according to French Economy Minister Roland Lescure.

While enjoying a family outing, the unidentified tourist was swept away by rapidly rising waters caused by thunderstorms in the mountainous regions. He was swimming with his wife and their two children, aged 9 and 13.

Additionally, a bus driver and a firefighter responding to the storm in Gironde were also lightly injured due to falling trees. Overall, the storm caused minimal material and human damage in the region, according to local authorities.
