Quinn: Daniels’ Hamstring Injury Deemed Insignificant

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels has avoided any long-term damage to his right hamstring, according to head coach Dan Quinn. An MRI confirmed that the injury is not significant. However, Daniels’ status for the upcoming game against the Kansas City Chiefs on October 27 remains uncertain.

Injury Update on Jayden Daniels

Quinn provided details about Daniels’ injury following the Commanders’ recent 44-22 defeat to the Dallas Cowboys. Daniels sustained the hamstring injury during a play where he was hit by linebacker Shemar James while attempting to throw a pass.

The incident occurred in the third quarter, leaving Daniels to stumble and grab his hamstring as he fell. Thankfully, he was not limping post-game, which offers some optimism for his potential availability.

Impacts on the Team’s Roster

While the prognosis for Daniels is encouraging, the Commanders faced a significant setback with defensive end Dorance Armstrong. He has been ruled out for the season due to a torn ACL in his right knee, marking him as the second starter lost for the season. Deatrich Wise Jr. earlier suffered a torn quad in Week 2, and Javontae Jean-Baptiste followed with a torn pectoral muscle in Week 4.

Armstrong had been a standout player for the team, leading with 5.5 sacks. His absence will further challenge a defense that ranks 21st in scoring and 27th in yards allowed in the league.

Future Quarterback Plans

If Daniels is unable to play against Kansas City, Marcus Mariota is expected to step in as the starting quarterback. Quinn emphasized that the team will have a clearer picture of Daniels’ condition when practice resumes on Thursday.
