DA Larry Krasner Shares Update on Human Remains in Missing Philadelphia Woman Case

Authorities in Philadelphia have made a significant breakthrough in the investigation surrounding the disappearance of 23-year-old Kada Scott. Nearly two weeks after she went missing, human remains were discovered in a shallow grave behind a vacant school in Germantown, Philadelphia.

Discovery of Human Remains

On Saturday, investigators located the remains in a heavily wooded area. Initial reports suggest that the remains are those of a female, and DNA testing has confirmed a match with Scott’s parents, indicating that the remains are indeed hers.

This discovery prompted an immediate memorial to form at the site. The area had been searched rigorously by law enforcement prior to the discovery, involving K-9 units and police recruits from a local police academy.

Investigation Details

The investigation has seen significant developments with Keon King, a 21-year-old from South Philadelphia, now charged with kidnapping related to Scott’s disappearance. He is also facing charges from a separate incident earlier this year. King is currently held on a $2.5 million bail.

  • King had previous charges dropped after a witness failed to appear in court.
  • Police have not yet confirmed how King and Scott were connected but believe they interacted shortly before her disappearance on October 4.
  • Evidence collected earlier included Scott’s phone case and debit card.

Police Response and Community Involvement

Law enforcement officials, including First Deputy Commissioner John Stanford, are calling on the public for any information regarding the case. “The tip was very specific, leading us back to this location,” Stanford stated.

Authorities are also digging into videos, including a TikTok clip, which may shed light on Scott’s situation during the time of her disappearance.

DA Larry Krasner’s Remarks

Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner is expected to address the case further during a press conference. He has acknowledged the shortcomings in handling previous charges against King, attributing part of the issue to his release on bail.

Krasner emphasized that the complexity of managing court processes at odd hours can impact the outcomes of cases, noting that some judges might lower bail rather than raise it during late-night petitions.

Ongoing Investigation

The medical examiner’s office is currently handling the remains as police continue to work on establishing a complete timeline and connection between Scott and King. Authorities urge anyone with information to call 215-686-TIPS (8477).
