Jayden Daniels Leaves Commanders’ Game; Awaiting Hamstring MRI Results

The Washington Commanders faced a significant setback during their recent game against the Dallas Cowboys on October 19, 2025. Quarterback Jayden Daniels sustained a right hamstring injury early in the third quarter, forcing him out of the game. The Commanders subsequently lost the match 44-22, further complicating an already challenging season.

Details of the Injury

Daniels injured his hamstring with 11 minutes and 53 seconds remaining in the third quarter. He was under pressure from Dallas linebacker Shemar James when the injury occurred. As Daniels attempted to throw the ball, James made contact, causing Daniels to lose possession and injure his leg in the process. He immediately grabbed the back of his right leg and limped off the field.

Expected MRI Results

After the game, Coach Dan Quinn announced that Daniels will undergo an MRI to assess the extent of the injury. The results will be crucial in determining how long the quarterback may be sidelined. This injury adds to the woes of a crowded injury list for the Commanders.

Impact on the Team

The setback is particularly concerning as the Commanders were already missing key players. They played the game without their top three receivers due to injuries: Terry McLaurin (quad), Deebo Samuel (heel), and Noah Brown (groin). Additionally, running back Austin Ekeler is out for the season following an Achilles injury incurred in Week 2.

  • Injury Report:
    • Terry McLaurin – Quad injury
    • Deebo Samuel – Heel injury
    • Noah Brown – Injured reserve (groin)
    • Austin Ekeler – Season-ending Achilles injury

As a result of these injuries, Washington’s anticipated starting lineup has not played together for a single snap this season. If Daniels is unable to play, this may further hinder the team’s performance.

Daniels’ Season Performance

Prior to his injury, Jayden Daniels had been showing promising performance. In five games this season, he completed 61% of his passes, accumulating 1,031 yards, eight touchdowns, and one interception. On the day of his injury, he had completed 12 of 22 passes for 156 yards and a touchdown, also adding 35 rushing yards and a score.

The Commanders will face the Kansas City Chiefs next on October 27, 2025. The team will need to adapt in light of Daniels’ situation, as they look to rebound from the recent loss and the ongoing injury crisis.
