Jacob Omondi, a mourner, reflected on Odinga’s influence, stating he played a crucial role in fostering democracy and freedom in Kenya. His leadership encouraged citizens to voice their opinions on issues affecting them.

Another participant, David Ouma, recognized Odinga’s remarkable resilience. Ouma noted that Odinga’s perseverance through numerous elections served as a valuable lesson in determination.

Funeral Arrangements for Raila Odinga

According to family statements, Odinga expressed a desire for a swift burial, preferably within 72 hours. His body will remain overnight at his Opoda farm, located approximately 60 kilometers (40 miles) from Kisumu.

On Sunday, a funeral service is scheduled to take place at a nearby university in Bondo. Following the service, a private burial will occur at the family homestead, which is home to a mausoleum built for Odinga’s late father.

This farewell not only highlights the respect for Odinga but also underlines his enduring legacy in Kenyan society.
