The Blues, currently at a record of 2-2-0, are set to face the Dallas Stars, who hold a 3-1-0 record. Montgomery expressed a desire to enhance offensive performance and reduce turnovers. He likened the process to using a “blender” to mix things up, indicating a shift in strategy to better complement player strengths.
Power Play Overhaul
In addition to forward line changes, the power play units have been revamped. The new formations feature:
- First Unit: Robert Thomas at goal line/net front with Jordan Kyrou and Dylan Holloway as wingers. Pavel Buchnevich will play the bumper role, while Cam Fowler stands on the point.
- Second Unit: Jake Neighbours at net front with Jimmy Snuggerud and Brayden Schenn on the flanks. Pius Suter occupies the bumper position and Justin Faulk is on the point.
Montgomery noted that the previous power play lacked flow and momentum. He hopes the adjustments will reinvigorate the team’s scoring chances and overall performance when they hit the ice.
Milestone for Jake Neighbours
In a noteworthy personal achievement, Blues winger Jake Neighbours recently reached the 100-point mark in his NHL career. The 2020 26th overall draft pick tallied a goal and an assist during the game against the Blackhawks, marking a significant milestone for his young career.
As the Blues prepare for their match against the Stars, fans await to see how these changes impact the team’s dynamic and performance on the ice.
