Al-Muhtadi reportedly joined other fighters during the assaults. Federal authorities state that he was instrumental in rallying armed individuals to support the attacks. According to unsealed court documents, he misrepresented his involvement with a paramilitary group on his visa application.

Background and Allegations

The accused, a known member of the Domestic Front of the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP), has allegedly been affiliated with this U.S.-designated terrorist organization since 2019. He is believed to hold a senior position within the group, responsible for training newer recruits.

On October 7, 2023, al-Muhtadi communicated crucial instructions related to the Hamas attack. His phone’s location on that day placed him near Kibbutz Kfar Aza, where significant casualties occurred, with 64 people reported dead.

Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrell expressed strong sentiments regarding the nature of the attacks. She emphasized the seriousness of the allegations against al-Muhtadi and stated that if proven true, the individual should face severe legal consequences.
