This operation, executed by the Guardia Civil and the Policía Nacional, involved the tracking of a suspicious truck from the Port of Valencia to an industrial site in Vallada. Three individuals have been arrested in connection with this major drug bust.
Details of the Operation
The investigation began when the police began monitoring various targets connected to drug trafficking activities at the port. Recent intelligence led to the identification of a suspicious truck entering the port, prompting joint surveillance with the Directorate General of Customs Surveillance (DAVA).
Seizure of Cocaine
Upon following the truck, officers noticed its driver exhibiting unusual behavior. The vehicle ultimately arrived at an industrial area in La Costera, where it was observed entering an industrial building. After a short time, the truck left, leading to a subsequent search of the premises.
- Total cocaine seized: 1.7 tons
- Cocaine found in:
- 690 kilograms in the industrial building
- Approximately 1 ton in the truck’s container
- Number of arrests: 3 individuals
During the search, agents discovered a robust steel chest designed to evade detection by port scanners, indicating the sophisticated methods used by the trafficking organization.
Background on Drug Trafficking in Valencia
This drug bust follows a significant previous operation known as Operation Spider, which dismantled a criminal organization involved in cocaine trafficking at the Port of Valencia. This earlier operation resulted in the arrest of 81 individuals, including port workers, and exposed a network of corruption.
The current investigation remains active as authorities continue to search for connections between this recent seizure and prior drug operations. The findings highlight the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in combating organized crime and drug trafficking in the region.
