Cowboys’ Trevon Diggs to Miss Sunday Due to Home Accident

The Dallas Cowboys are set to face a challenging game against the Washington Commanders without key cornerback Trevon Diggs. This decision comes after Diggs suffered a concussion in a home accident on Thursday, October 14, 2025.

Trevon Diggs’ Accident Details

Head coach Brian Schottenheimer confirmed that Diggs was placed in the concussion protocol following the incident. Specifics of the accident remain undisclosed. However, the team’s medical staff evaluated Diggs on Friday.

Impact on the Cowboys’ Defense

Diggs has been an integral part of the Cowboys’ defense, having started every game this season. He made a comeback after being on the physically unable to perform list due to January surgery on his left knee. Recently, he has also dealt with an injury to his right knee.

Season Statistics

  • Tackles: 20
  • Tackle for Loss: 1
  • Pass Deflections: 2

With Diggs sidelined, the Cowboys will need to adapt their defensive strategy. Players like Kaiir Elam and DaRon Bland are set to step up in his absence. Additionally, the team plans to activate Caelen Carson from injured reserve, allowing him to make his season debut.

Defensive Challenges Ahead

As it stands, the Cowboys’ defense has struggled significantly, ranking last in yards allowed per game and 31st in points allowed. Losing an elite cornerback like Diggs adds pressure during a critical matchup against the potent offense of the Commanders.

Schottenheimer emphasized the need for the team to adjust but remains confident in their existing game plan. “It’s going to come down to us going out and playing well against a really good Commanders offense,” he stated.
