Labuschagne Selected for India ODIs; Green Benched Due to Side Strain

Marnus Labuschagne has been selected for the upcoming One Day Internationals (ODIs) in India, replacing Cameron Green, who is sidelined due to a side strain. This injury has been classified as low grade, prompting Cricket Australia to take preventative measures ahead of the Ashes.
Cameron Green’s Injury Update
Green is set to miss the ODIs scheduled for October 19, 23, and 25. Despite this setback, he is projected to return to play for Western Australia in their Sheffield Shield match starting on October 28. His latest injury is not linked to the back surgery he underwent last October.
- Injury Status: Low grade side strain
- ODI Dates Missed: October 19, 23, 25
- Expected Return: October 28 (Sheffield Shield)
Cricket Australia emphasized that Green is now in rehabilitation. He is on track to play in Round 3 of the Sheffield Shield as he prepares for the upcoming Ashes series.
Marnus Labuschagne’s Form
Labuschagne’s inclusion comes at a time of exceptional form. He has scored four centuries in his last five domestic games, including two in the 50-over format for Queensland. His previous selection for the home ODIs against South Africa was missed due to disappointing scores of 1 and 1.
Changes to the Australia Squad
The squad for the ODIs against India has seen several alterations. Along with Labuschagne’s addition, Josh Phillippe replaces Josh Inglis, who is still recovering from a calf strain. Additionally, Adam Zampa will not participate in the first match due to family commitments.
