Suspect Arrested Following High-Speed Chase in Forest County

Authorities have apprehended a suspect following a high-speed chase through Forest County, Wisconsin, on Tuesday morning. The incident began shortly after 6:30 a.m. when an off-duty deputy spotted a vehicle driving recklessly on Highway 55.

Details of the High-Speed Chase

The off-duty deputy noticed the vehicle speeding and passing in a no-passing zone, producing a loud exhaust. Shortly after, a deputy on duty was able to locate the speeding car on Highway 55 near County Highway S.

  • The suspect was driving at speeds exceeding 110 mph.
  • The vehicle had its headlights turned off during the pursuit.
  • One deputy involved in the chase struck a deer, disabling their patrol car.

Route Taken by the Suspect

The chase persisted as the suspect continued north on Highway 55 and then west on Highway 8, moving through the city of Crandon. Shortly afterward, he stopped on the shoulder near Tower Road before reversing direction back toward Crandon.

Law enforcement managed to track down and apprehend the suspect in a business parking lot in Crandon.

Identification and Charges

The suspect has been identified as Mason Spray from Deerbrook. Following the chase, he now faces several serious charges, including:

  • Fleeing an officer
  • Recklessly endangering safety
  • Possession of THC

This incident highlights the ongoing concerns regarding reckless driving and public safety in the area.
