Police Urgently Seek Help Identifying Kidnapped Woman in Wichita, Kansas

Kansas law enforcement is urgently seeking assistance from the public to identify a woman who was kidnapped in Wichita. This incident took place early Sunday morning and was captured on a homeowner’s surveillance footage.

Details of the Incident

According to the Wichita Police Department, the abduction occurred around 2 a.m. in a residential area of northeast Wichita. A homeowner reported the alarming scene, recorded by their Ring doorbell camera, which showed a man forcibly taking a woman away.

Response from Law Enforcement

Wichita Police Chief Joe Sullivan held a press conference on Monday, emphasizing the department’s primary concern is the safety of the woman involved. As part of their investigation, police have:

  • Canvassed the neighborhood twice
  • Reviewed data from license plate readers
  • Checked missing persons reports filed since October 1

Captain Todd Ojile shared insights on the investigation, noting that, so far, the police have received nine tips. However, none have helped in identifying the individuals involved in the video.

Public Appeal and Reward

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of $2,000 for information that leads to the identification of the man or the kidnapped woman. Capt. Ojile reassured the public that there appears to be no ongoing threat to community safety.
